Treasure of my Heart

I hopped on Fae, my Shire/Appaloosa homebred-cross mare, last evening for a brief ride. Her soft, swinging walk, easy strong trot, and silky flowing canter filled my heart with awe.

For although I hadn’t been on her for many months, Fae responded perfectly to my lightest cue. Yay Fae! Hip hip hooray!  DawnHoof

I awoke today with this beautiful impression:

Smooth
    Lovely mare
        With glassy flowing glide,
Carrying
    My weight
        On an afternoon ride
As if
    I’m a feather
        On her broad sturdy back —
With light
    Swift gait,
        That other horses lack.
Oh, a
    Good horse
        Is a treasure indeed —
Not so,
    It turns out,
        With just any steed.
Breeding
    And training
        And an inner life-spark
Sets my
    Special mare
        As the treasure of my heart!

What a wonderful reminder to hop on and ride! Even briefly, even at the very end of the day. Not to let life and cares get in the way!
